Goat Mountain: Deadman’s Lake
Siouxon Creek
Radcliffe told us about this place. Turns out it was right in my backyard, mere miles away from places I used to swim in my youth. Much to our surprise, the gravel roads out to the trailhead were paved about 2 years ago – just a few pot holes, but it’s easily assessable without a SUV. The hike isn’t terrible, a few ups and downs, the trail is well maintained and well marked. There are two falls, a handful of swimming holes, and lots of places to set up camp. Just keep an eye out for mountain bikers.
White River Falls
Nishat found out about this place last night – White River Falls, an abandoned hydro-electric facility next to a beautiful waterfall…we couldn’t wait! One night sleep and a mere 2-hour drive later, we made it! It’s an easy .25 mile walk and a bit of climbing to see the powerhouse interior, and it’s worth it! Fun little day trip.
